It was a hot, but a beautiful day when the CRS Boston prayer groups gathered at Holiston's Fatima Shrine for our annual summer day of fun and giving glory to God. August 3 forecasts hinted at possible thunder showers, but none showed up during our 10 AM to 3 PM gathering. Diane Colgan and Juan Zapata organized a talented crew of cooks, musicians, and youth to kindle the Holy Spirit's fire throughout the day.

Preparation started early in the morning when a group of white tents loaned from Immaculate Conception Church, Everett, were errected. Food tables and drink coolers were arranged. An extensive sound system was wired to project the music from the stage area throughout the picnic space. Meanwhile Guido Guesada led a talented group of chefs grilling traditional and ethnic delacies. Many people brought special dishes from their ethnic traditions to share.

CRS Boston Director, Romanus Ajaero called everyone to a time of prayer and thanksgiving to start the day. Then the music started and everyone descended on the lavish food tables. One of the delightful things in this year's festival were the many music ministries from prayer groups around the Boston Archdiocese. They signaled a powerful resource for worship throughout our region.

It was also enjoyable seeing children playing with the balls and rackets provided by the Hispanic youth groups. These youth later led us in a team challenge game of Name the Animals. Franciscan Father Francis from Lowell was observed enjoying a kick ball game with a little girl. At the end of the day Father Frances spoke about the light from the City of God and blessed all those present.

Here are some photos of the day. If you would like to add some of your pictures to this collection, send them to:
